Newsletter #23:
"Hang Together"
"Hang Together"
DATE: August 8, 2024
As Geauga County rebuilds from severe storms, dark clouds continue to loom over our nation’s horizon.
When I last emailed you, our country was already grappling with an assassination attempt against one President and a palace coup against another.
A few weeks later, we now face Kamala’s extremist VP pick and an erupting hot war across the entire Middle East. This is not to mention our own local challenges as severe weather ripped through our community.
It seems the entire foundation is at risk this election year — for our economy, our political system, and our country’s position in the world. And now our own local community is in physical disarray.
Yet here in Geauga County, the recent storm damage shows how resilient we are. Neighbor is showing love for neighbor, just as the second most important commandment instructs us.
It is a good reminder that it is the people of Geauga County who make our community the incredible place it is.
The recent storm damaged Mayfield Church on Caves and 322 in Chesterland.
In contrast, within the Geauga County Republican Party, there has been a lot of consternation as of late.
With the stakes so high, I understand why passions are running hot — and that is also why we must find common cause and purpose with each other.
Benjamin Franklin said upon signing the Declaration of Independence, “We must all hang together, or we will certainly hang separately.”
After our Presidential nominee survived an assassination attempt, will bickering and infighting occupy our time and energies? Or will we focus on electing Republicans from the top to the bottom of each ballot this November?
I am ready to fight for the people of Geauga County as our next County Commissioner — to defend freedoms, protected paychecks, and defeat dysfunction.
I am also excited to support our full Republican ticket — including our friend and U.S. Senator, J.D. Vance, for Vice President of the United States.
The next Vice President of the United States, J.D. Vance, and the next Geauga County Commissioner, Carolyn Brakey, speak during a meeting in Burton, Ohio. (This photo was originally posted on J.D. Vance’s Facebook page on October 13, 2021.)
Here in Ohio, we have the benefit of knowing J.D.
Over multiple meetings, I have come to appreciate his regard for working people and his thoughtfulness on the issues.
Meanwhile, Tim Walz, the newly announced Democrat Vice Presidential candidate openly embraces socialism as “neighborly.” As Governor of Minnesota, he instituted a radical agenda, including the bribing of families with taxpayer money to inject their five-year-old children with COVID vaccines.
Many are describing Tim Walz as even further to the left than Kamala Harris — which is saying something, given she was once raked the most liberal U.S. Senator in America.
We cannot afford to let our country descend further into left-wing insanity, and that is why Republicans must stand together.
As your Geauga County Commissioner, I will help lead our county government back to respecting our freedoms, protecting our paychecks, and supporting our families.
As Republicans “hanging together,” I hope you will also join me in supporting two local Republican fundraisers.
Republican Common Pleas Judicial nominee Matthew Rambo will be joined by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost on Tuesday, August 13 at Veterans Legacy Woods. Click here to RSVP.
And on Friday, August 16, I am proud to co-sponsor a fundraiser for Republican U.S. Senate nominee Bernie Moreno at Generations Event Center in Chesterland hosted by the Western Reserve Women’s Republican Club.
I hope you can join us to support Bernie Moreno for U.S. Senate.
I hope to see you at both of these upcoming events to support our Republican candidates.
Thank you for your continued support.
For Liberty!
Carolyn Brakey
GOP Nominee,
Geauga County Commissioner
