"It Can Only Mean One Thing"
"It Can Only Mean One Thing"
DATE: December 20, 2023
Friend --
Each morning in our Russell Township home, our twins are counting down days as little hands excitedly open new boxes on advent calendars.
This can only mean one thing: the holy day when we celebrate the birth of our Savior — sharing joy and gifts with our family and friends — is nearly here.
From our family to yours, we wish you a Merry Christmas!
The Brakey Family wishes you a Merry Christmas!
This Christmas season, I am grateful for the opportunities to form beautiful life-long memories with our children.
This past weekend, we took our twins to Great Lakes Outdoor Supply in Middlefield.
Don’t tell my son, but Santa got him a Walther P22Q pistol for Christmas. But that wasn’t the purpose of our visit that day. Instead, we were treated to Christmas fireworks!
With red and green explosions in the sky, my children and I gathered close together during a winter night, joined by hundreds of other Geaugans taking in the festivities.
Carolyn, with her son and daughter, gathered together under Christmas fireworks.
This time of family togetherness is a joyful capstone to a year of hard work on behalf of the people of Geauga County.
On the Board of Health, I have had the honor of serving you:
Protecting your paychecks by cutting waste and saving taxpayer money, all while maintaining local presence and control without trimming services; and
Defending your freedoms by defeating school mask mandates, ensuring parents — not bureaucrats — are in charge of health decisions for their children.
Now that I have launched this campaign for County Commissioner, I have enjoyed finding new ways to serve you — helping lead an effort to “Stop the Geauga Tax Hike.”
As the temperature falls this winter and families (in these times of record inflation) stretch their budgets to heat their homes, many of our neighbors simply cannot afford a major spike in property taxes.
I am grateful that 1,750 of our fellow Geauga residents agreed, signing our petition to seek tax relief action to offset the state-ordered property revaluation.
And I am honored to help make your voice heard by personally delivering your petitions to our elected officials — spurring action by many at the county, municipal, and school board levels.
Carolyn delivers 1,750 petitions to “Stop the Geauga Tax Hike” to Senator Sandra O’Brien at a recent open house with elected officials.
I will also report, as we have reached the filing deadline, I now have an opponent in the Republican primary for County Commissioner.
As we enter the new year and the race develops, there will be plenty more to share — but in the meantime, I want to thank you for all your support in our campaign efforts.
With an opponent in the race and Primary Election Day (March 19) only 90 days away, I am doubling-down on my efforts to connect with voters — at local events, through mailboxes, and over social media.
Some of these efforts can be accomplished with good, old-fashioned shoe leather, but many others require funding to ensure our campaign message is heard.
Thank you for all your support! Let’s continue making a difference.
For Liberty!
Carolyn Brakey
Republican for Geauga County Commissioner
P.S. Our family wishes you and yours a Merry Christmas!
As this joyful capstone arrives on a year of hard work, I am grateful for all the ways you have allowed me to serve you.
From my work on the Board of Health to our petition drive to “Stop the Geauga Tax Hike,” I will always work to defend your freedoms and paychecks.
With only 90 days to go until Election Day (March 19), I now have an opponent in this race for County Commissioner — and I need your help to ensure we win.
Thank you for all your support — and Merry Christmas!
